Shaw Systems is a national software development company that has an established record of solid financial performance and an excellent reputation for providing quality products.
The Product Owner is responsible for establishing and executing the strategy for one or more Shaw Systems product(s).
This includes devising and evolving the short- and long-term objectives for enhancing existing features, adding new features, and establishing new integrations and partnerships for their product(s).
Objectives and Responsibilities Core Responsibilities: Leadership of one or more Shaw Systems Products which include but are not limited to: Spectrum Retail Spectrum Collections Spectrum Floor Plan Spectrum Core Features Spectrum Compliance Configuration Management Middleware Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create and maintain product strategy and road maps for owned product(s) Build consensus for product road maps and strategies with key stakeholders, peers, and senior leadership Orchestrate cross functional key stakeholder and development teams to execute product strategies and achieve objectives on the road map for owned products Work directly with developers, testers, and support staff to diagnose issues, debug code, and create non-code solutions where required Execute on various objectives established for the Product Strategy Team Collaborate with other teams and leaders within the development organization to establish and execute proactive communication plans pertaining to new software releases to internal and external stakeholders Ensure consistent and effective communications between the Development, Implementation, Compliance and Support pertaining to owned product(s) Advance subject matter expertise levels and redundancy among Development, Implementation, Compliance, and Support staff pertaining to owned product(s) Work directly with clients, support personnel, developers, and implementation specialist to resolve critical issues across all products Contribute content for Monthly Business Reviews for the Product Strategy team to communicate priorities, progress, and results to leadership and staff Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders pertaining to owned product(s) Work directly with Shaw Systems stakeholders and clients to resolve escalated issues Develop a strong relationship with key business partners, clients, and stakeholders Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirements, enforce compliance and take actions when necessary.
Governance: Participate in the Product Strategy Committee to gain approval for product road maps Contribute to establishing standards and governance for scope and business requirement documentation Contribute to establishing standards and governance of product documentation and release notes Collaborate with development leadership on standards and governance of test case quality and software release ratification Ensure product documentation and release notes quality for owned product(s) Provide oversight on test case completeness and quality for owned product(s) Leadership and Management: Collaborate with peer leaders’ development teams, support teams, and implementation teams to drive performance, subject matter expertise, and priorities aligned to owned product(s) Set priority of enhancements and defect resolution for owned product(s) in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders Drive on-time, on-budget, and quality goals for aligned development, implementation, and support teams Author business requirements and functional designs for enhancements and complex defect resolutions for owned products Provide oversight on business requirement documents and functional designs produced by other associates pertaining to owned products Escalate key risks and issues to the VP of Product Strategy Provide timely updates both internal to Shaw and externally to clients on status of key Product Strategy initiatives where appropriate Collaborate with peer leaders and senior management to continually improve efficiency, quality, and velocity of software delivery Contribute to establishing and maintaining formal policies and procedures for the Product Strategy organization Requirements 10+ years of leadership experience in a development or technology role within the technology or financial services industry 5+ years’ experience in customer facing technology roles 8+ years of business experience covering the full credit life cycle from acquisition through disposition Familiarity with Java and MSSQL, including ability interpret code and write basic SQL Experience creating executive dashboard and presentations Advanced ability to create process flow diagrams in Visio or similar tool, including swim-lane diagrams Understanding of key financial and operational drivers of success among the client base and industry for owned product(s) A proven track record in product development, operational excellence, and organizational maturity A results-oriented communicative individual who can foster relationships and promote the broader company strategy A proven track record of building high performing cross functional teams to deliver large complex projects Ability to effectively communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences A strategic leader who can also roll up their sleeves, when necessary to solve problems or assist in delivery on a company committed expectation An individual with a high level of energy, sense of urgency, creativity, and decisiveness, coupled with the ability/willingness to work well under pressure A collaborative leader that establishes a culture of exchange of ideas free of hierarchies Demonstrated successful experience working in a high paced environment with the ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications Extremely organized and a passion for the details An overall track record for product development and industry experience with demonstrated business value Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity Unquestionable credibility, and character, exhibiting high moral and ethical behavior Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues Education/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, technology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred Location This position may work from any of the following locations: Hybrid office schedule if within 75 miles of the Houston, TX or Richmond, VA office.
Remote with the ability to travel at least 5% from the following states: Texas if more than 75 miles from the office location, Virginia if more than 75 miles from the office location, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah.
** Shaw Systems employees are not authorized to work in any state not listed above our outside of the US without specific written permission from their direct manager and approval from the Information Security Office.
** Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct reports and will report to the Vice President of Product Strategy.
Work Environment and Physical Demands This is a full-time position.
Days of work are Monday through Friday.
The daily schedule may vary from 7 am – 4 pm, 8 am – 5 pm or 9 am – 6 pm, and occasional after hours or weekend work may be required.
Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.
Travel Limited travel (up to 25%) is expected for this position.
