Summary
We are looking to employ a qualified Infant Teacher, who has a passion for instilling values in young children.
The Infant Teacher should possess high energy and the ability to handle the demands of babies and toddlers with different personalities and needs.
To ensure success, the infant teacher should display a gentle and nurturing personality, and the patience to assist each infant or child to mature cognitively.
They should be able to assist in developing the infants? and children's social skills as they interact with each other.
The desired candidate for infant teacher should be or willing to be a certified and professional teacher who specializes in providing an educational environment in a preschool to babies and toddlers from the age of 3 months up to 3 years old.
The Infant Teacher is able to provide a safe and enriching place as a home away from home.
Duties
Under direction of the Director of the center, participate in implementing the Preschool / Infant curriculum
plan, prepare and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to provide a safe, healthy, and educational program for young children;
Independently follow work directions and guidance as assigned to complete daily functional tasks.
Guiding babies and toddlers through education/development programs.
Thinking on their feet and responding to each child?s needs efficiently.
Displaying a patient and calm personality coupled with a loving approach to every child.
Contributing positively to the behavior and social interaction of the children.
Building secure relationships with the children.
Working closely with the principal and department head to ensure that guidelines are adhered to.
Keeping a diary of the day?s events for parent perusal.
Reporting accidents, illness, and unusual behavior of children to the principal, head of department, and parents.
Observation and assessment skills in evaluating the developmental progress of children.
Safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
Requirements of maintaining preschool areas in a safe clean and orderly condition.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Oral and written communication skills.
Ensuring close communication with parents throughout the day should the need arise.
Be able to lift & carry children up to 50 pounds, walk for periods of time for field trips
Participate in physical care of preschool and infant/toddler children
Oversee and participate in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch and snacks
Change diapers and toilet children as required.
Provide for a safe and healthy environment for children
Identify and correct safety hazards
Report faulty or malfunctioning equipment
Provide first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to ill and injured children
Clean and sanitize classroom and play area equipment
Keep & Maintain a clean work enrironment throughout the day
Attend staff development activities, workshops, and conferences
Conduct parent conferences and prepare written assessments of the developmental progress of assigned children as specified by Virginia Department of Education
provide a positive role model at all times; explain the preschool and infant toddler program, rules, and regulations to visitors, parents and others.
Requirements
Child Development Associate or 60 college credits in early childhood development.
High school diploma or associate degree (recommended).
CPR certified and trained.
Complete background check and health examination.
Previous experience in a preschool.
A passion for working with babies and toddlers.
Patient, nurturing and thoughtful.
Good communication skills.
Maintain discretion around children's records.
Principles of child development, child care, preschool and infant/toddler activities.
Preparation and implementation of lesson plans appropriate to a preschool or infant/toddler environment.
Child guidance principles and practices.
Train and provide work direction to field and work experience students and others.

3+ years experience
Current Infant/ Toddler CPR, AED, MAT Certification
If hired for Infant/Toddler Program must be willing to complete Virginia State Continuing Education units in Infant/Toddler course, meeting Virginia's Regulations for Infant/Toddler.
