The Construction Accountant is responsible for establishing, implementing and managing compliance to development’s accounting processes, policies, practices, and procedures.
Assistance in preparing and evaluating budgets, job costs, and cost controls.
Prepares and evaluates cost reports and other financial operating reports, and presents findings and recommendations to the Development Team.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all accounting related functions on multiple projects.
Coordinates general ledger transactions (payables, receivables, payroll, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
)
Responsible for accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing) and Development system management.
Responsible for Job cost tracking, analysis and reporting.
Prepares job cost and transaction reports, and analyzes and assists management in cost control measures.
Assists on special projects as requested; assists with yearly audit preparation.
Interface with Project Managers and management on all aspects of construction accounting.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minimum of five years of progressive construction accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Background in construction accounting, revenue recognition, and job costing/Construction in Progress (CIP) preferred but NOT required
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
Proficient in QuickBooks or other accounting software
