VDOT’s State Sign Shop is seeking an individual to provide financial support and services to include maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input for various accounting transactions.
Transactions may include time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, SPCC direct charge, travel, accounts receivable, inventory, procurement, and other related fiscal service transactions.
Interpret basic policy and procedures.
THIS IS AN HOURLY/WAGE POSITION AND IS NOT ENTITLED TO STATE BENEFITS PACKAGE AND IS LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 1500 HOURS IN A 12-MONTH PERIOD.

Minimum Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member.
Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems.
Knowledge of basic accounting, math and business principles Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include MS Office, automated financial and inventory systems.
Experience interpreting and applying basic policy, procedures and implement procedural and transactional changes.
Knowledge of office and program support activities.
Experience with file management to include purging and disposing of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules.
Skill in performing basic math calculations.
Experience preparing financial reports and running queries.
Additional Considerations Experience applying knowledge of GAAP, government accounting, internal controls, inventory and compliance.
Exceptional customer service skills or ability to effectively and professionally communicate with internal/external customers and vendors.
Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable.
Knowledge and experience performing account reconciliations and tracking time/attendance.
Experience using Cardinal or a similar automated financial management system preferred.
A combination of training, experience or education in Accounting, Accounts Payable, or related field desired.
