Job Summary/Basic Functions
The departments under the purview of the Vice President for Finance and Administration work to improve the overall financial position and stability and compliance of the University and provide timely, accurate and complete financial information the Students, Faculty, Staff and Administrators of the University Board of Visitors and external users.
This position works to ensure that all Salary and Wage employee payrolls are processed timely and accurately.
Ensure all documentation is received to process payments.
Review payroll transactions to ensure they processed accurately; ensure miscellaneous deductions are set-up timely and accurately.
Respond timely and appropriately to employees and external request.
Assist Payroll Office staff with ensuring all other payrolls are processed timely and accurately.
Prepare and maintain payroll reports related to each pay cycle, Ensure all critical deadlines are met and provide timely and responsive Customer Service.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency with course work in accounting/bookkeeping is required.
Payroll experience required to include a working knowledge of state payroll procedures, demonstrated ability to perform detailed work with numerical data and to make arithmetical calculations rapidly and accurately.
Working knowledge and experience with bookkeeping /accounting principles and practices, especially as they apply to Colleges and Universities.
Working knowledge of automated payroll, particularity the CARDINAL, BANNER and KRONOS timekeeping system.
Proficient using PC application i.
e.
MSWord and Excel.
Ability to analyze, interpret and apply complex fiscal policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Also, must have working knowledge and experience with Federal and State payroll policies and procedures.

Additional Considerations:
College coursework in accounting/bookkeeping is preferred.
