Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in accounting and financial record keeping, data entry, customer service; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with general bookkeeping practices; ability to accurately maintain a variety of accounting/financial records and files; ability to perform mathematical calculations; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Who We Are: Chesterfield County Public Library (CCPL) is a seeking a Principal Account Clerk to join its team of innovative, forward-thinking professionals in providing engaging information services to a vibrant and appreciative community.
This is a part-time benefits eligible position.
Duties: • Audit, analyze, and calculate cash receipts Information from library branches.
• Prepare Daily cash receipts summaries.
• Accurately post, add, compute, and balance journal entries into data system using generally accepted accounting principles.
• Gather statistical data (monthly meeting room use) and verify totals.
• Serve as back-up to administrative secretary (office coverage of phones & supply orders), senior account technician (creating purchasing card purchase order & gathering information regarding purpose of purchase, prepare invoices, statements, and receipts) and cross-train with others to audit cash receipts and prepare daily cash receipts summaries.
• Assist in researching records and providing data to include compiling, preparing routine, periodic and special reports.
• Filing and maintaining electronic financial files.
• Process invoices for payment using the county database.
• Respond to inquiries for information and/or inquiries related to cash handling policies.
• Answer telephone and door.
• Reconciling records, identifying and/or resolving discrepancies with operating, grants, and law library accounts.
• Participate in developing and/or revising cash handling guidelines and forms.
Perform other work as required.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work; light to moderate lifting is required; and, regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
