The key focus of the University Assistant Bursar position involves overseeing the Student Accounts and Cashiering divisions.
The primary aim is to ensure precise and effective management of student accounts and university-wide cashiering operations.
This role is dedicated to streamlining billing and refunding processes, ensuring prompt payment collection, and fostering transparent financial transactions for students and their families.
By adhering to regulations and implementing optimal procedures, the Assistant Bursar works to uphold the university's financial integrity and enhance the student experience.
Additionally, this role plays a vital part in delivering exceptional customer service, supporting financial literacy programs, and collaborating with university departments to establish a financially responsible and inclusive campus community.
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or a combination of related education and experience • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of fiscal policies and procedures related to the administration of Student Account Receivables and Financial Aid programs • Profound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); • Knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to student accounts and cashiering, including FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and other relevant financial regulations; • Proficient in managing student financial accounts, including billing, invoicing, refunding and payment processing, reconciliation, reporting • Commitment to promoting financial literacy among students, helping them understand their accounts, payment options, and the importance of responsible financial planning; • Mangement Experience- motivating, training, performance management • Strong analytical skills to review financial data, identify discrepancies, and reconcile accounts; • Experience interpreting, developing, applying, and implementing complex fiscal policies and procedures and experience in gathering, analyzing, and reporting complex financial data; • Ability to adapt to changing regulations, technology updates, and evolving student needs to maintain efficient and effective student account management and cashiering services; • Knowledge of, and skills in computer use, with a thorough understanding and ability to use Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, and Power Point; Additional Considerations • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CPA candidate or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) certification preferred; • Preferred experience in higher education setting • Cardinal and Banner experience preferred Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
